Hello, Did you see the Victoria Osteen clip? I want to give her the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe she lost her train of thought and her words just got away from her. I don't know. I used to watch Joel but stopped after realizing it was more self-help, feel-good, pep-talk and not a real sermon. I am confused how fire and bible based preachers produce offspring who don't quite have the same style. I used to watch his dad. I'm interested in your thoughts on the video. Hi! Yes I did see that. For those that haven't here is a link... gnli.christianpost.com/video/victoria-osteen-do-good-for-your-own-self-not-for-god-33544This isn't the first time she or her husband have said things like this. They always do. This is a foundational teaching of their ministry. What is more interesting to me is that it is all of a sudden becoming such big news. That is the part that has my attention. I wonder what God is up to here? If I wasn't familiar with the ideas that come out of that ministry or if this was a new believer who was speaking in front of a crowd for the first time I would be inclined to give the benefit of the doubt too. We just have to much history of non-biblical ideas and teachings coming from Lakewood. Ideas that make it all about 'us' and our happiness...nothing about Him and the call for holiness. I think that she meant and believes exactly what she said. Here is what she said... "When we obey God we're not doing it for God. I mean that's one way to look at it. We're doing it for ourselves. Because God takes pleasure when we are happy. That's the thing that gives Him the greatest joy this morning. So I want you to know this morning just do good for your own self. Do good because God wants you to be happy. When you come to church. When you worship Him. You're not doing it for God really. You're doing it for yourself. Because that's what makes God happy." Our happiness does not give God the greatest joy. Jesus teaches in Luke 15:10 that sinners repenting makes heaven sing! Honoring Him, loving Him, dying to self and living for Him, pursuing righteousness and making Him known to others is what the bible teaches are pleasing to God. The Christian has access to something much better than 'happiness'. We have access to the peace that passes understanding and joy unspeakable. We attain these things through faith and trust in God...not by anything we do but because of Who He is in our lives. . I would love to hear what you thought of his dad. I am not familiar with how/what he taught. Is JO following in his dad's footsteps or was dad more bible based? Thanks! Happy birthday Lori Ann. As for the Osteen's I'd say the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Rarely anything that was real Biblical truth just a lot of feel good health, wealth and prosperity stuff.

I have often wondered about the father's ministry. That just adds to my wondering about why this is such big news now. I am looking forward to dinner with the family tonight. My greatest gift will be spending time with my nephew. Have a blessed evening!

Good Morning!! Happy Sunday!! I hope everyone has a blessed day today!! May the Lords peace cover us all. As Jesus told us we must pick up the cross and follow Him. We must stand, and set the example of Christ in our everyday walk. We are the teachers by what we do. Shalom

Good morning everyone!!! Happy Wednesday! I hope that everyone is having a nice week. I am still recovering from Monday Night Football. . I hope the Giants can pull it together sooner rather than later. I love that there were some surprises opening weekend. I hope those that have SEC Network are enjoying it. I am still working on getting it. I do pray for former contributors and hope you all are well. If any have prayer requests please feel free to post them. I would love to pray for you! I wanted to share my Spurgeon devo for today. Very encouraging! Have a blessed day. Coming In; Going OutBlessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out Deuteronomy 28:6 The blessings of the law are not canceled. Jesus confirmed the promise when He bore the penalty. If I keep the commands of my LORD, I may appropriate this promise without question. This day I will come in to my house without fear of evil tidings, and I will come in to my closet expecting to hear good news from my LORD. I will not be afraid to come in unto myself by self-examination, nor to come in to my affairs by a diligent inspection of my business. I have a good deal of work to do indoors, within my own soul; oh, for a blessing upon it all, the blessing of the LORD Jesus, who has promised to abide with me. I must also go out. Timidity makes me wish that I could stay within doors and never go into the sinful world again. But I must go out in my calling, and I must go out that I may be helpful to my brethren and useful to the ungodly. I must be a defender of the faith and an assailant of evil. Oh, for a blessing upon my going out this day! LORD, let me go where Thou leadest, on Thy errands, under Thy command, and in the power of Thy Spirit. LORD Jesus, turn in with me and be my guest; and then walk out with me and cause my heart to burn while You speak with me by the way.

Good morning gals! Thirteen years later and I am back in the same place I was 13 years ago when the second plane hit. I am sitting in the same place I stood in awe as I watched on TV and saw the smoke out the windows. We all have our 9-11 stories of where we were and how it impacted us, our families, friends and neighborhoods. I pray for all those who lost someone they loved that day. Friends, neighbors and family of mine all lost someone. Parts are still a blur. #NeverForget

Good morning!! HAPPY FRIDAY!!! There are so many places to find inspiration when we are tired, frustrated and overwhelmed. First, for me is God's word. Another way that He ministers to me is through children...amazing children who seem to handle life much better than I do sometimes. This young guy...only 10 years old...is proving to be one of those children: 'Tim Tebow says Perry County boy playing football with prosthetic legs is inspiring' www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2014/09/tim_tebow_pays_visit_to_deven.htmlI hope that this puts a smile on your face and in your heart. Have a blessed day all!

Good Morning!! Happy Saturday!! May we all be blessed on this blessed day!! This is the day The Lord has given us, it's a blessing!! Let's use it to honor and glorify Him!!
I'm sitting out on the patio looking over a large body of salt water enjoying a cup of coffee. How blessed!! I don't deserve a bit of it. But it's thru His unconditional love for me and the Grace He paid all for me that's allows for all blessings. I see Him in every direction I look this morning!! The water, the sky and the trees. Amen!
It's so easy to be distracted by all the bells and whistles the world offers and dangles in front of us. We want and want. We forget the wonderful blessings He's already given us. He knows how to bless us and steer us from people, places and things we shouldn't be around. Go with Him.
Trust in The Lord!! Enjoy Him and His immeasurable love daily!!
Shalom

Wow! I really need to implement that in a situation at work. Just thinking about it hurts my flesh.
