Hi gals! This may sound strange but I am trying to quit chewing gum. I am really addicted and it is not very healthy...especially the aspartame which is poisonous to the human body and I am so into clean eating and fitness. I am really struggling with stopping this.
God has already delivered me, miraculously, from an addiction to cigarettes that started before I was saved. I know that He can deliver me from this but I am really struggling and could use prayer support. See, one of the ways that my body deals with stress is chewing, clenching my jaw and grinding my teeth. I chew gum all day long right up until I go to bed now.
In addition to the aspartame I also do not like to be controlled by ANYTHING but the Holy Spirit and must stop for that reason as well.
God bless you gals and thank you, in advance, for your prayers!
I look forward to posting a praise report before too long.
"I can do all things through Christ who strangthenes me". Phil 4:13
"Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." James 5:16

Years ago, at a homeschool conference, a speaker told us one of the best ways to beat a habit or addiction is to take the offense. Meaning, every time you are tempted to do what you do not want to do, pray for someone you personally know that is lost and needs Christ. Your consistency and persistence in praying with each temptation will thwart the enemy's advantage in keeping you in bondage. The last thing satan wants is another Christ follower.
I'm praying that God gives you many new converts to Christ and a new freedom from the bondage of an unhealthy habit.

I love Sonshine's approach!! You can do everything through Him who gives you strength; and in the name of Jesus, may the chains on your gum-chewing habit be broken!

Just wanted to give an update...definitely a praise report! Today is one week since I committed to quit chewing gum and I am happy and thankful to say that I only chewed gum twice today! That is a huge accomplishment! I am so thankful for the strength that The Lord is giving. And so thankful for your prayers. I see a gum-free day in the near future!

I went in here to put in a prayer request for myself and I never saw yours GinNJ, I will pray for The Lord to give you strength to kick the gum. I went thru that. I switched to mangling paper clips LOL. One of my friends put a rubberband on her rist to flick. These sound odd, but there just distractions to get your mind off something else. Prayers to you.
